Why email sequences?

 I'm seeing a lot of people launching their newsletter these days and it's so exciting. I love it that newsletters are like making a comeback and people are just announcing it and getting subscribers without having to have an opt in gift. (Although I still think an opt in gift is a good idea.)

But what I want to talk about today is a way to set up your email newsletter so that it's even more impactful for your subscribers and a lot easier for you to manage.

It's a little bit techy and a total mindset shift, but the newsletters that I'm seeing right now that are being released are so cool, amazing, valuable, and important and the way that people normally send a newsletter is going to miss a lot of the value.

So here's what normally happens.

You send your newsletter on Friday, the people who are on your list on Friday get your newsletter.

But if they sign up on Saturday, they don't get that brilliant thing that you sent yesterday.

They're gonna miss out on it.

But if you set up your emails as a sequence, then everybody gets every good email that you send.

It doesn't matter when they signed up.

So how do you make this happen?

In your email provider, like MailChimp, MailerLite, ConvertKit, all the new ones, whichever one you want to use, you can set up your email as a sequence.

And anytime you write a newsletter, you just drop it in the end of your sequence, so you can still, I mean, you're not really sending it out on Friday, although you can set your sequence to only send on Fridays, and that way, you're not going to know which email people are getting, but they'll all get an email on Friday, which is kind of what you want, right?

Doesn't matter the topic they receive, they're going to get some good, valuable stuff from your email.

So, this works best when you have evergreen content, which a lot of us have. We're teaching concepts.

Sometimes you might think something is timely, but not necessarily.

I'm following a lot of sustainability consultants, right? And there's a new regulation or some kind of change or something like that. But people don't need to know that it went into place last week. They just know that now it's in place. The time doesn't really matter.

If you have timely information, like you're hosting a webinar or something that people actually have to do, like, at a certain time, you would send that as a regular broadcast or a campaign or a newsletter, but everything else, all that amazing content, you can plug into a sequence.

But I really think it's a very smart strategy for you and for your subscribers to set up your newsletter as a sequence and not a broadcast or a campaign.

The reason this benefits you is that you can write a batch of emails and just throw them all in that sequence and then you don't have to think about your email for weeks or maybe even months if you batch a lot.

Try to think about this new perspective. It's very, very cool and really effective.
